Welcome to the Bavarian Graduate Program in Economics!


The Bavarian Graduate Program in Economics (BGPE) is a doctoral program available to doctoral students of economics at participating Bavarian universities.



It is based on the cooperation of academic researchers from Bavarian universities and other renowned centers of economic research in Bavaria. The program offers courses, workshops, and advice by the best scientists in the field. The Bavarian Graduate Program in Economics invites excellent doctoral students in Economics to participate in its courses and workshops.

15.07.2020 The planned Advanced Econometrics course will not take place with Jeffrey Wooldridge in October. We want to avoid that the course is cancelled at short notice due to the ongoing travel restrictions. Instead, his European colleague Arthur van Soest will teach the course. There is also a change in the date of the course. The course will take place from September 6th to 11th in Parsberg. More information

06.07.2020 Due to the spread of COVID-19 and the ongoing travel restrictions Prof. Peri will unfortunately not be able to travel to Germany, which is why the planned course "Labor & Migration" cannot take place in September. 28.01.2019 The BGPE research workshop in Munich offered a session on the academic job market. We thank Prof. Sebastian Goerg (TUM) who held an Assistant Professorship at Florida State University and parcipated in hiring committees for sharing his insights on the US academic job market. He agreed to share his presentation slides on our website. Information about the European academic job market can be found on the website of the European Economic Association.
